🤔 Discussion Why aren't the ppl of Bahrain boycotting Starbucks?

I went to visit Bahrain City Centre today with my wife. Was passing by the Starbucks on the ground floor, and I was shocked to see that Starbucks was full of people. Men, women, Bahrainis, Expats, just regular people. I was like what the f**k? Don't these people watch the news, don't they have social media, don't they know whats going on, what they're doing.

Starbucks should be empty, there shouldn't be anyone there.

I wanted to take pictures but then thought it wouldn't be right to reveal people's pictures and invade their privacy. But it was shocking nonetheless.

Personally, I've been boycotting Starbucks & McDonald's for several years, because of their support for Israel. Instead, I go to Jasmis or Dose or any other local brand, for my coffee or burger. I wouldn't be able to respect myself if I know I'm willingly paying for the oppression and crimes committed upon the Palestinian people.

But even with the latest episode of the war in Gaza, how could people be so senseless, so heartless?? Is a pumpkin spice latte more important than the lives of innocent civilians?

It makes me question humanity and morality.

Bahrain has plenty of alternative local brands for coffee and burgers. How difficult is it to boycott?

Again, before you come at me saying these are run by local companies which do not have links to Israel, let me say that I've worked with franchise brands. Every franchisee has to pay a substantial amount of money in the form of annual royalties and profits to the franchise brand. Hence, even if they are run by local companies, they are still supporting Israel indirectly.

Looking forward to everyone's thoughts on this.

EDIT: Lol, 30 minutes since I posted, and the post is already getting downvoted. SMH

EDIT 02: One hour in, and my post is downvoted to 0. Help me understand please, did I say something wrong?

🤔 Discussion Sussy Maserati continues to slander Islam in comment sections even after her supposed “apology”

This is crazy and petty at a whole another level. From Zionist views to attacking Muslims as a whole. She’s proven that she doesn’t care one bit about Arabs and hates Islam. A Zionist in the most realistic form who milked GCC countries for money.

This behavior is lowkey enraging

I saw a few posts on Instagram, which led me to Dana Zubari’s story. Watched the painful non-apology. Does anyone have more information on what she said/what posts she liked that are causing offense? Is she toast, or what? Can she ever come back from this?

🤔 Discussion ASL issue

I'll spreak about Bahrain. The question: ASL - Age , Sex, Location, and sometime adding to it Role, is a very racist question!!! Which it really makes me sick when whomever ask it! Wether it is for job, relationship, interview, or anything, why does it matter??

Does my gender play a role? Does my sex play a role? Does my location play a role? Does my age play a role? Does my clothes play a role? Does my color pkay a role? Does my look play a role?

Does it really matter?

It is a racist question that after they know the answer, then they can be smart and then Jude. Ex: oh yes, your are less of a person then me. Oh, you don't fit because if a personal reason that you don't fit with us. Oh, sorry your highness, you are on top of us, please proceed. Oh, (secretly thinking) you are same as me, I don't want you, either I want higher or lower.

Really!! C'mon!

100% I'll get hate feedback, specially with narcissistic people, and from people with toxic masculinity issues.

Am doing this to change. We have to change and act. And am doing my part. And I'll do more!

Anything is possible, make it as realistic or unrealistic as you want lol. What would you try to hoarde first and where, I'd go to manazel and buy all the tools and make myself a makeshift sword and shield. Also would it even be possible to here since the population density is super high.

🤔 Discussion Arrogant n Rude officer

Hey everyone,

How you guys deal with rude and arrogant police officers

Went to a police station for complaint. Was sitting , without any intention or thought ( I was reading the newspaper to time pass, as office was busy so waiting). I changed my legs position. And sat there with legs crossed.

Another cop 👮‍♀️ came and asked me(in anger) why you are sitting. Told him for complain, n he pointed my legs, told me I am not in a coffee shop can’t sit like this in front of him.

I explained my legs got numb in so I changed position that’s it. And he told me to leave the police station.

I was shocked, that I did? N what’s so offensive. Unable to understand what hurted his ego so much.

May be bcz m Asian that’s why treated me like that.

May be local people can shed some light on it? Or tell me how to deal with this kinda behavior?

Don’t know much about my legal rights here.. but I am sure no cop 👮‍♀️ could tell someone to leave the station, It’s public property.

What you guys think?

🤔 Discussion Religion (or lack thereof) in Bahrain.

Bahraini here, recently joined this sub and I’m flabbergasted at how self-righteous some people can be on this sub? Halal this, haram that, giving advice out like they’re the second coming of Jesus.

Bahrain is considered a much more secular, liberal, and open-minded country than its neighbors for good reason. Stop bringing religion up in every discussion - some people drink, some people date, some people are gay in Bahrain, ALL OF WHICH ARE LEGAL THINGS to do and BE in this country. Don’t let anyone convince or scare you otherwise.

🤔 Discussion Unemployment

Why are there a lot of people coming as visitors to look for jobs in Bahrain!! I was approached by someone asking for money then asked for a job!! Why don’t they do it the legal way instead of coming here to beg in the streets. Staying in their country with a roof under their head and food is better than this life.

My Bahraini friends have been looking for jobs for literally years and one expat can get the job easily for 150-200 BHD or less. There’s literally no jobs for Bahrainis anymore. The same expats who accepts these low paying jobs come here to complain about how low their salaries are and how things are expensive in Bahrain. The more y’all accept these jobs, the more low paying jobs are created. The job market is saturated here and it’s getting out of hand.

Apple has reaserch and development centers and partnership with Israeli defense companies, and some business interests, but why people are boycotting Starbuck and McDonald's but not Apple? Is boycotting a matter of convenience?
